  1. What exactly is eczema?

The word “eczema” has two meanings. It can mean either of the following:

  • A group of conditions that causes inflamed, irritated, and often itchy skin.

  • Any one of the conditions within this group, such as atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, or stasis dermatitis.

Types of eczema:

  1. Atopic dermatitis
  2. Contact dermatitis
  3.  Hand eczema
  4. Neurodermatosis
  5. Nummular eczema
  6. Stasis Dermatitis
  7. Asteatotic eczema

 

Management of the eczema mainly includes Moisturizer application , use of immunomodulatory topicals and systemic medications like antihistamines. There will be few more other specific dos and donts with regards to type of the eczema involved which is described in respective disease pages.
