How does this work to treat double chins?
This treatment in JSC involves the injection of deoxycholic acid (found naturally in the body) into the fat in the double chin area, which destroys the fat cells. Once the fat cells have been destroyed they cannot store fat again – so once you have achieved the look that you want, it is unlikely that you will need more treatment.
How is this treatment performed?
Injections are only performed by doctors who have been trained in the treatment. The treatment involves a number of small injections into the fat beneath your chin.
What to expect
This treatment is administered in a series of sessions spaced a few weeks to a month apart for the best results.
Treatment sessions usually take 15 – 20 minutes. You may experience some bleeding, swelling, bruising, or tenderness at or near the treatment area, however, these side effects are typically short-lived. While this is a non-invasive procedure and you can return to your daily activities immediately afterward, you may experience some redness, bruising, and swelling for a few days up to a few weeks afterward. We suggest that you schedule your treatment near the end of the week, or over the weekend.
Over time, you’ll notice your double chin gradually receding, revealing a slimmer, natural-looking neckline. Because the fat cells targeted by the injection are destroyed, your results are likely permanent.

Sometimes, a double chin has nothing to do with body weight and is instead due to hormones or heredity. It can be frustrating because a double chin can make you look older, heavier, or unhealthier than you actually are.

Recovery & Side Effects
It does come with a few side effects, as most cosmetic injectables do. They’re usually mild, and the possibility of developing severe complications is minimal.
The most common side effect is swelling, which can last up to three days after your treatment. You may also experience some bruising, itchiness, redness, and general discomfort. Some patients also experience numbness or tenderness in the targeted area, in some cases for up to two months.
If your job requires you to deal with the public (or if you just don’t want anyone to know you received a cosmetic treatment), you may want to schedule your treatment toward the end of your workweek to give the redness, swelling, and bruising a chance to dissipate before you go back to work.
